my boss, rodney, is from australia and has been an avid sailer all his life. in 2008, he sailed from san francisco to hawaii in a race that took two weeks. he invited jess and i to a small race out of marina del rey on friday evening. it was so beautiful and exciting. it was hard to take pictures because we were racing. to help the boat move faster, we had to "move about" the "cockpit" which required us to switch over to the "high side" of the boat when the mainsail would "jibe" from one direction to another. sailing is so fascinating, and i am glad i got to see a glimpse of it. it was exhilarating begin out there with the other boats, having to quickly change directions and coming so close to colliding with the other boats. it was really a lot of fun. plus it was my first sailing race and we won first place!!
